It was a record setting hot day in the Provence region of France. I was sitting in the car with the ac blasting when people started to arrive to shoot sunset. I realized if I wanted to claim my composition I would need to leave the ice box climate created in the car. Heading out in to the ideal row of lavender you could hear the millions of bees buzzing around. Praying I would not be stung with every step I found my spot to setup. The sky was clear, the heat had made it impossible for clouds to form and a thin haze filled the sky. Seeing this my sunset shoot quickly turned into a Milky Way shoot. Sticking around I managed to capture some great blue hour shots of the field and ruin in the distance. Then it was time to wait for the Milky Way to make its way into the sky. It took about three more hours of keeping myself occupied, at least it was still warm and the bees went home for the night. The Milky Way finally started to fill the sky moving more vertical as the night went on. Once I had my shots I made my way out of the lavender field. I was happy, content, fulfilled. This was a bucket list shot for years and I was excited to get back to the hotel to edit. First I needed a shower and sleep.
