I had just returned from a trip to the US when my friend asked me “are we going to shoot the eclipse or what?” I had totally forgotten about it and sold my soul to get the weekend off to go. It was the very next day that we jumped in the car and started driving south. We had to make it into the Idaho area to be in the path of totality. We left after work at around 6pm and drove through the night, arriving around 10am. Enough time to catch a 45min nap. We found a sand dune desert in the middle of Idaho that looking back at it now we honestly could have gone anywhere. I think we were dreaming of getting some sort of landscape shot but really you are just shooting the sun in a close up. Nevertheless it was a cool experience. The entire event took a few hours but totality lasted less than two minutes. Funny isn’t it, the things we will do for a two minute photo. I remember the feel I got when totality hit, it was this awe inspiring wonder and connection with everyone around us. We all started to cheer and celebrate while seeing the corona flare around the sun. A moment I won’t ever forget.
