Leave it to me to visit the lavender fields of France at a time they set record breaking high temperatures. It was mid day and we knew if we wanted a chance at getting a spot to shoot this location we were going to need to be there hours in advance. Reluctantly we pried ourselves from in front of the fans we pirated in our room and headed out the door. Being in a small village that dates back to 600BC you could imagine there wasn’t many options for AC, it was just the rental car. We arrived at the field around 6pm sunset wasn’t until after 9pm. At this point the temp was already approaching 40°C and there wasn’t a cloud in sight. We noticed a van filled with tourist and photographers approach and realized we would have to leave the comfort of the car AC and stand out in the field for the next few hours as the sunset. We quickly moved to our pre scouted spot and proceeded to wait and cook in the sun. As sunset approaches a thin layer of cloud started to appear, one of only two moments there were clouds at all during the past 2 weeks. The timing could not have been better! As the suns started to set the clouds lit up and gave us the most amazing glow. We stood there in amazement while snapping away. We were so happy that we even broke out into celebratory dances.
